Dr Murthy was born and brought up in Adoni. He studied at TGLV High School and then Adoni Arts & Science College . He got his Bachelor Degree in Commerce & Statistics from Sri Venkateswara University . On returning from his studies, joined renowned South based Industry and was looking after Insurance Department catering the needs of Risk Management & Industrial Insurance.

During Academic year 2004 he completed his MBA (Master of Business Administration) and Philosophy in Doctorate from International University for Contemporary Studies, Washington DC with specialization in Advanced Business Management and Corporate Governance.

Institute of Directors , new Delhi conferred 'Master Class for Directors' leading to Certified Corporate Directorship on Dr Murthy after successfully completing the course.
